A Guide to Reducing Fees

NationalCard continuously works to educate and provide awareness to clients on how to minimize the costs associated with accepting credit and debit cards.

Armed with a more complete understanding, you gain greater control of those add-on fees. Following are the transaction qualification rules. Simply following this guide will reduce your monthly processing fees.


Credit/Debit Card Transaction Qualification Rules


QUALIFIED TRANSACTION CONDITIONS
(Best Rates)

Card is present, full magnetic stripe is read by the terminal
and a signature is obtained.

One Electronic authorization request
is made per transaction

Authorized transaction amount must match
settled (batched) transaction amount

Transaction settled before 2:00 AM on the day after the
transaction is authorized

Additional data (sales tax and customer code)
required on all commercial cards



MID-QUALIFIED TRANSACTION CONDITIONS

One or more of the Qualified conditions are not met
or

Transactions are settled late, but less than 2 days after authorization
or

Key-entered transactions with vaild AVS (Address Verification)



NON-QUALIFIED TRANSACTION CONDITIONS

Key-entered transactions without valid AVS

Transactions settled more than 2 days after authorization
or

Transaction forced without an authorization
or

Business/Commercial cards accepted
without the required additional data
